Arv.no was founded in 2020 with an idea initiator, Jan Olav Ryfetten, spearheading the project. Jan Olav also brought two others on board as co-founders, André and Morten. Together, they established the company arv.no and sold the solution to several NGOs. The solution was developed in collaboration with the company Sealedit. Arv.no had good momentum until the end of 2021 when the co-founders and idea initiator started other full-time jobs, and arv.no became a side project.

In 2022, a group of students from NTNU's School of Entrepreneurship stress-tested the idea of digital inheritance and wills. This is when Bjørn-Arild Jacobsen became acquainted with Jan Olav, and Bjørn-Arild joined the project, gradually taking over the day-to-day operations. This marked the beginning of today's arv.no with Bjørn-Arild as a co-founder. Later in 2023, he brought Herman and Celina on board, and arv.no was subsequently relocated from Oslo to Trondheim.

Today, arv.no is a startup at NTNU's School of Entrepreneurship, with Jan Olav serving as a mentor. Morten and André have passive roles in the company. Arv.no works to provide comprehensive solutions for life events such as death and inheritance. We achieve this today through a digital solution for easily creating wills or enduring powers of attorney. The day-to-day operations are managed by the ES team from Gløshaugen, while the idea initiator resides in Oslo.
